Chris Talley, CCM is the President of Blast Builders, LLC, a vertically aligned design, supply, and construction entity focused on turnkey delivery of blast resistant buildings for the petrochemical industry.
Understanding a buildings reaction to a blast event has been a passion since 2005 after the explosion in Texas City. His experience and understanding of the overpressure, effect on structural components, façade, doors, windows, and the MEP systems have allowed him to lead teams of the most experienced blast building experts in the country.
Before forming Blast Builders in 2022, Chris was the Regional Vice President for a large privately held General Contractor in Houston, Texas responsible for the Gulf Coast market. During his tenure he grew the commercial office sector into one of the most recognized office space builders in the city. His work has been recognized with multiple awards including the HBJ’s Houston Landmark award. Recognizing the opportunity of the petrochemical industry along the gulf coast he quickly grew a new sector for the company building for the petrochemical industry clients in our area. Gaining several global refining clients during the last several years, the value of a niche partner that understands the blast resistant buildings from conception, siting, design and construction became evident.
Prior to managing the general contracting office, Chris managed the Federal sector in the Southeast US and Caribbean for Jacobs Engineering’s Global Buildings division. Managing design and construction for over 3 billion in Federal and military projects for clients such as the GSA, Louisiana National Guard, FBI, US Marshall’s Service, INS, IRS, US Federal Courts, US Border Patrol, US Customs Service and other top-secret clients. Managing blast resistance in the design and construction of these facilities he again had the opportunity to work with some of the best blast experts in the country. Chris was recognized with many awards for successful projects such multiple Federal Courthouses, and the State of Louisiana commendation medal for service rebuilding the National Guard’s facilities across the state after Hurricane Katrina.
After graduation from Texas A&M University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Architecture in Building Construction. Chris had the opportunity to work for a large Construction Management firm for nine years growing from a Project Engineer to eventually an Associate and Sr. Project Manager leading design and construction teams across multiple construction sectors.
